Terry McCabe, een FBI-agent in Los Angeles die weldra met pensioen gaat, wordt na een wilde achtervolging geveld door een hartaanval. Na een harttransplantatie wil hij genieten van een welverdiende rust, maar hij krijgt een zekere Graciella Rivers op bezoek die hem vraagt de moordenaar van haar zus op te sporen.
