Fa Mulan krijgt de verrassing van haar jonge leven toen haar liefde, Kapitein Li Shang vraagt om haar hand in het huwelijk. Voordat de twee kunnen hun nog lang en gelukkig, de keizer wijst ze een geheime missie om drie prinsessen escorteren naar Chang'an, China. Mushu is vastbesloten om een wig te drijven tussen het paar, nadat hij leert dat hij verliest zijn baan als voogd Mulan trouwt in de Li familie.
