Wade Walker staat te popelen om zijn vriendin Grace Peeples ten huwelijk te vragen. Maar na een jaar van samenwonen is de mooie, succesvolle Grace nog steeds terughoudend om Wade aan haar ambitieuze familie van hoge komaf voor te stellen. Wanneer Grace naar de jaarlijkse familiereünie gaat besluit Wade onaangekondigd langs te komen, zijn aanstaande schoonfamilie te charmeren en een ring om Grace haar vinger te schuiven. Maar Wade zijn plannen lopen volledig in het water wanneer hij haar familie ontmoet.
