Na een wereldwijde epidemie is het grootste gedeelte van de bevolking gestorven. Er zijn slechts een paar duizend overlevenden en zij hebben het lastig met het vinden van voedsel en onderdak. Daarnaast moeten zij zich 's nachts verbergen voor gevaarlijke wezens die dan op jacht gaan.
