Mel en Sidney vormen een paar dat aan de zelfkant van de maatschappij leeft. Mel (James Woods) ziet zichzelf als een professioneel inbreker. Sidney (Melanie Griffith) is zijn vriendin die hem voorziet van drugs en champagne. Wanneer het tweetal Bobbie en Rosie, een jong en verliefd stel oppikken weet Mel Bobbie te overtuigen om samen een grote slag te slaan. Mel en Sid bieden de jongeren een leven van opwinding en sensatie: drugs, mooie kleren en champagne. Het viertal groeit uit tot een hechte familie en slaagt in hun opzet.
