Tijdens een vlucht op weg naar een staatsgevangenis, gijzelt de veroordeelde moordenaar Peter Cronin met behulp van twee vakkundige medeplichtigen, sexy Shayna Loring en voormalig IRA-terrorist Andrew Leary, de inzittenden van het vliegtuig. Zijn eisen zijn duidelijk: 20 miljoen dollar en een ander vliegtuig. Als zijn eisen niet worden ingewilligd, zal Cronin alle passagiers doden door het laten ontploffen van een bom, die verstopt is in een laptop.
