Cavis Appythart en Millward Phelps zijn twee componisten die in Londen in het jaar 1882 trachten een musical te produceren. De voorstelling is "The Princess and the Plumber". Ze hopen te kunnen openen op kerstavond met de musical. Als het tweetal er achter komt dat ze concurrentie gaan ondervinden van een tegelijkertijd door kinderen opgevoerd stuk, komen ze in actie.
