De predikant Julian Shay slaat door naar de andere kant als zijn vrouw besluit hem te verlaten. Hij neemt wraak op zijn ex-vrouw en haar nieuwe vriend. Larn Claver is een grootgrondbezitter en wil het gebruik van een waterput niet delen met de rest van de bevolking. Sheriff Scoby is door de inwoners van zijn stad weggejaagd omdat hij faalde de macht van Claver in te dammen. Hij zoekt Shay op en samen nemen ze de wapens ter hand om het op te nemen tegen Larn Claver en zijn zoons.
