Het is 1881. De gedegradeerde luitenant John Martin Haven krijgt de opdracht van de overheid om dodelijke overvallen op goudtransporten te onderzoeken. Haven reist vervolgens incognito en arriveert bij een grenspost, waar de saloonzangeres en femme-fatale Charlie alle illegale activiteiten controleert. Nadat hij Charlie's body-guard Mick Marion heeft uitgeschakeld, neemt Haven zijn taken over, zoals Charlie's gokimperium. Ondertussen verzamelt Haven ook bewijzen tegen deze aantrekkelijke leidster.
