Samen met elf andere meisjes woont de jonge Madeline in een weeshuis in Parijs. Dan komt er op een dag een man langs, die beweert haar verdwenen oom Horst te zijn en die haar wil meenemen naar de familie van Madeline in Wenen. Toch vertrouwt ze de man niet helemaal.
