Jeff en Amy Taylor verhuizen naar Californië, en moeten een lange rit maken door het land. Wanneer ze in het midden van een woestijn rijden komt hun rit plotseling door panne tot een stop. Amy krijgt een rit van een trucker om bij een restaurant te kunnen bellen, maar als Jeff het defect aan de auto heeft ontdekt en naar het wegrestaurant rijdt heeft niemand haar daar ooit gezien. Hij moet er nu alles aan doen om zijn vrouw terug te vinden.
