De journaliste Lanie Kerrigan interviewt een geestelijke gestoorde dakloze man voor een onbelangrijk stukje. Hij vertelt haar echter dat ze over een week overlijdt. Dit zorgt er voor dat Lanie tot actie overgaat, en ze probeert het patroon van haar leven te veranderen.
