Nadat kunststudent Ben Willes (Biggerstaff) pijnlijk gedumpt wordt door zijn vriendin Suzy, ontwikkelt hij een vorm van chronische slapeloosheid. Om de lange nachten door te komen besluit hij nachtwerk in een plaatselijke supermarkt te gaan doen. Daar ontmoet Ben een aantal bijzondere mensen die allemaal hun eigen redenen hebben om 's nachts op te blijven.
