DJay is een klein pooiertje uit Memphis die verwoede pogingen doet een carrière als rapper van de grond te krijgen. Hij probeert zijn debuutalbum op de markt te krijgen, met behulp van zijn vrienden uit de 'hood'. Wanneer hij hoort dat rap-superster Skinny Black de omgeving zal bezoeken, zet DJay een plannetje op poten om de aandacht van de ster te krijgen.
