Het kleine woestijndorpje Perfection wordt opgeschrikt door enorme zandwormen die mensen met huid en haar opslokken. Twee klusjesmannen en een seismologe gaan op onderzoek uit, en stellen vast dat de monsterwormen zich door het woestijnzand moeiteloos kunnen voortbewegen.
