Steven Russell is gelukkig getrouwd met Debbie en werkt bij de lokale politie totdat een dramatisch auto ongeluk een heroverweging van zijn leven oproept. Steven realiseert zich dat hij homo is en besluit alles uit het leven te halen, zelfs als hij daar de wet voor moet overtreden. Stevens nieuwe extravagante levensstijl omvat oplichting en fraude, wat hem uiteindelijk in de gevangenis doet belanden. Hier ontmoet hij de gevoelige Phillip Morris.
