'The Covenant' volgt sergeant John Kinley tijdens zijn laatste dienstplicht in Afghanistan. Tijdens de dienst staat John onder andere in nauw contact met een lokale tolk, Ahmed genaamd. Wanneer de eenheid in een hinderlaag wordt gelokt, zijn John en Ahmed de enige overlevenden. Ahmed zal zijn leven moeten riskeren om een zwaargewonde John over kilometers slopend terrein in veiligheid te brengen.
