Burton 'Gus' Guster staat op het punt vader te worden en in het huwelijksbootje te stappen met zijn verloofde Selene. Ze heeft echter onthuld dat ze al getrouwd is, maar vervreemd is geraakt van haar man. Shawn Spencer, die zich door zijn uitmuntende observatie- en deductievaardigheden voordoet als een paranormale detective, besluit samen met Gus de voorbereidingen van de trouwerij opzij te schuiven en op zoek te gaan naar de oud-geliefde van Selene. Ondertussen worstelt politiebaas Carlton 'Lassie' Lassiter met de toekomst van zijn carrière.
