Een stille, stoïcijnse bakker leidt een monnikachtig bestaan in zelfopgelegde ballingschap. Wanneer zijn vervreemde zoon wordt gedood in een slecht afgelopen drugsdeal, moet de bakker voor zijn achtjarige kleindochter zorgen waarvan hij het bestaan niet wist. Uiteindelijk wordt de bakker gedwongen terug te keren in een leven dat hij achter zich probeerde te laten.
