Een Amerikaanse satelliet stort neer in een onbewoond gebied in de Stille Oceaan. Als dit incident dreigt te ontaarden in een oorlog, sluiten de Verenigde Staten en het Aziatische land een ongewoon akkoord. Beide landen sturen één man naar een verlaten tropisch eiland om daar te vechten tot de dood. Vietnamveteraan Jacob Gallery (Darren McGavin) en de Aziatische Yuro (Mako) worden geselecteerd en op het eiland ontstaat er een band tussen de twee.
