Inspecteur Cadek van het dertiende politiebureau moet de pas weer vrijgelaten brandkastkraker 'de Kat' in de gaten houden. Hij vermoedt dat deze zijn verstopte buit weer wil gaan oppikken en dat hij tevens wraak wil nemen op Karta omdat die de politie heeft geholpen om hem op te laten pakken. In het ziekenhuis is de ex-vriendin van 'de Kat' Fróny verliefd geworden op dokter Chrudimský en wil een nieuw leven beginnen. Ze is echter niet van plan om Inspecteur Cadek te helpen om 'de Kat' en Karta op te sporen.
