De professionele dief Quint (Jones) wordt door de FBI ingehuurd om enkele zeer geheime opnames te stelen van een verdacht bedrijf waar een onderzoek naar loopt. Quint verstopt de opnameband in een spectaculair prototype van een auto terwijl de bestolen figuren hem op zijn hielen zitten. Dan wordt de auto gestolen door een mysterieuze dame (Hamilton) die werkt voor Ed Ryland (Vaughn). Ze krijgt spijt van haar actie en besluit samen met Quint de auto en de opnameband terug te krijgen.
