De 72-jarige Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) ergert zich aan de ex van zijn verloofde Olivia Regent (Lesley-Anne Down). Dat is namelijk een crimineel die haar continu bedreigt en hun dochter van haar wil afpakken. Tijdens zijn eerste ontmoeting met de schurk wordt Paul gelijk onder schot gehouden. Wanneer vervolgens Olivia wordt mishandeld door een handlanger van de crimineel, neemt Paul wraak. Op grondige wijze.
