Mackenzie, een problematisch tienermeisje, wordt door haar moeder naar haar oom in Juneau in Alaska gestuurd om daar te gaan wonen. Hoewel haar oom een ondersteunende en verzorgende vriend lijkt te zijn, begint de relatie te verslechteren en wordt Mackenzie gedwongen om te vluchten. Ze probeert haar weg naar Seattle terug te vinden. Ze raakt echter steeds verder verdwaald in het landschap van Alaska.
