Richard Darrell is een arme aristocraat die schrijver is geworden. Hij wordt overvallen en voor dood achtergelaten in Spanje door de agenten van de slechte Sir Francis Castleton. Met de hulp van een hartstochtelijk zigeunermeisje herstelt hij zich, wint hij de hand van het meisje waar hij van houdt en gaat op zoek naar wraak.
