Tandarts Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky heeft het moeilijk om het hoofd boven water te houden en bovendien zit zijn huwelijk in het slop. Op een dag krijgt hij een nieuwe buur. Wanneer hij met de man wil gaan kennismaken, ontdekt Nicholas dat die niemand minder is dan Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski, een beruchte beroepsmoordenaar. Hij gaat, op aandringen van z'n vrouw, naar Chicago om een maffiabaas hierover te informeren en hiervoor hopelijk een premie op te strijken.
