Murray Whelan is een jonge politiek adviseur van de Australische minister van Etnische Zaken. Wanneer er een lijk wordt gevonden in een slachterij in het kiesdistrict van de minister, raakt Whelan tegen zijn zin betrokken bij een moordonderzoek. Hij wordt gedwongen detective te spelen.
