De engelen Loki en Bartleby zijn wegens wangedrag de hemel uitgezet. Om te ontsnappen aan hun eeuwigdurende ballingschap op aarde, moeten de heren een kerk in New Jersey betreden. Daar bevindt zich een maas in het kerkdogma en zouden ze kunnen terugkeren naar de hemel.
