Cris Johnson is een showroom-illusionist in Las Vegas die met een voor hem kwellend geheim leeft: hij kan enkele minuten verder in de toekomst kijken. Als kind onderging hij tal van onderzoeken opgezet door de overheid en de medische wereld, die hem uiteraard een interessante aanwinst vonden. Omdat hij deze interesse kotsbeu is, duikt hij onder een valse naam onder in Vegas waar hij leeft van goochel-optredens en kleine gokwinsten. Maar wanneer een terroristische groep ermee dreigt om een nucleaire opslageenheid in Los Angeles te laten ontploffen, tracht overheidsagente Callie Ferris hem op te sporen. Het kost haar enorm veel moeite om Cris te vinden en hem te overtuigen om haar te helpen om deze grote ramp stop te zetten.
