Het verhaal speelt zich af in de Australische woestijn in een gevaarlijke en disfunctionele toekomst. Eric heeft elke schijn van menselijkheid achter zich gelaten. Wanneer zijn laatse bezit, zijn auto, wordt gestolen door een bende gevaarlijke criminelen begint Eric aan een zoektocht naar de daders. Hij wordt hierbij gedwongen om de hulp in te schakelen van Reynolds, een naïef lid van de bende die achtergelaten is in de chaos bij hun laatste ontsnappingspoging.
Nee, helaas is The Rover nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
