Amazone prinses Diana brengt piloot Steve Trevor terug naar de Verenigde Staten, na zijn crash op het mystieke eiland Themyscria. Tegelijkertijd moet Diana op jacht naar de uit gevangenschap ontsnapte Griekse oorlogsgod Ares. Ares, die kracht put uit oorlog en strijd, ontketent een aanval op Washington DC.
