Wanneer een natuurbrand de Hollywood Hills treft, strandt een gezin terwijl hun buurt wordt verwoest en hun huis in een brandende gevangenis verandert. Tot overmaat van ramp escaleert de situatie wanneer een roedel roofzuchtige coyotes, gedesoriënteerd door het vuur, hun omgeving rond het huis verscherpt. Machteloos geworden door instortende wegen en geen elektriciteit, moet de familie vertrouwen op hun moed, veerkracht en liefde voor elkaar om zowel het inferno als de grommende dreiging buiten te overleven.
