Een aspirant-muzikant wordt vrijgelaten uit de gevangenis en ontdekt dat een nummer dat hij had geschreven terwijl hij opgesloten zat, is gestolen en er een hit van is gemaakt door een country-superster. Wanneer zijn confrontatie met de ster een gewelddadige wending neemt, moet de ex-gevangene weer op de vlucht gaan, maar hij vindt een onverwachte bondgenoot in een slimme achtergrondzanger met een plan om de rollen in zijn voordeel om te draaien.
