De remake van de klassieker uit 1946. De armoedige Frank Chambers krijgt tijdens de depressie in de jaren 30 een baantje in een restaurant van de aantrekkelijke Cora en haar oude, rijke man Nick. Frank en Cora beginnen een vurige verhouding, en besluiten Nick uit de weg te ruimen.
