Het is 1995. Shayda woont in Australië, ergens op een geheime locatie in een opvanghuis voor vrouwen. Ze is uit haar geboorteland Iran gevlucht, omdat ze in alle vrijheid zelf haar leven wil bepalen, en dat wil ze ook voor haar zesjarige dochtertje Mona. Maar haar gewelddadige man Hossein gunt haar die vrijheid niet en daarom wil ze niets meer met hem te maken hebben. Een rechter bepaalt echter anders en geeft hem bezoekrecht.
Nee, helaas is Shayda nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
