Hoewel het eenzame spookje Casper alleen op zoek is naar een vriendje om mee te spelen, jaagt hij tot zijn grote verdriet de mensen keer op keer de stuipen op het lijf. Totdat Kat in Casper's spookhuis Whipstaff Manor komt wonen. Haar excentrieke vader Dr. James Harvey, een ervaren spokenverdrijver, is ingehuurd door de nieuwe eigenaars van het huis, de onuitstaanbare Carrigan Crittenden en haar partner Dibs, om Casper en de andere spoken weg te jagen.
