Jim Schuyler is een schietende, slaande, zuipende, vrouwen beminnende politieagent. Hij is het niet eens met de betuttelende manier waarop de politie het tuig in de wijk behandelt en levert zijn badge in. Hierop wordt hij ingehuurd door advocaat Fredericks, die hem opdraagt diens getuige Rena Westabrook te beschermen, die beschuldigd wordt van moord op haar echtgenoot.
