In Oost-Frankrijk heeft Éric, een kleine misdadiger, moeite om voor zijn tienjarige zoon Esteban te zorgen. Op de dag dat Esteban wordt ontvoerd, is Éric radeloos en weigert hij de politie in te lichten. Hij besluit hem op zijn eigen manier te redden, vastbesloten om alles te doen wat in zijn macht ligt om het losgeld te innen.
