Sinds de dood van de Barlows waakt sheriff Holden over Ellen en Cassie, die voor de familieboerderij moeten zorgen. Op de dag dat goudzoekers het dorp binnenvallen, ontmoeten de twee zussen Clark en Daniel, twee cowboys die op de boerderij komen werken. Maar nauwelijks begint Ellen Clark aardig te vinden als hij moet vertrekken, terwijl haar ex-verloofde na twee jaar afwezigheid terugkeert.
