'We Bought a Zoo' is gebaseerd op het waargebeurde verhaal van voormalig Guardian journalist Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) die na de dood van zijn vrouw een vervallen dierentuin op het Amerikaanse platteland koopt van zijn laatste spaargeld. Het opknappen van de dierentuin gaat gepaard met enige hindernissen en ook privé komt er het één en ander om de hoek kijken.
Nee, helaas is We Bought a Zoo nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
