Het is 1918. Amerika vecht mee in de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Duitse immigranten worden beschuldigd van verraad of sabotage. Jonge mannen worden door patriotisme en propaganda het leger in gelokt. In een kleine stad in Texas voelt Horace Robedaux (William Converse-Roberts) de druk om ook het leger te dienen, maar hij wil zijn vrouw en kind niet verlaten.
