De belevenissen van een aantal bewoners van de buurt Five Corners in de Bronx, New York. Een jonge vrouw wordt achterna gezeten door een gestoorde ex-gevangene die haar nog kent van vroeger. Ze vlucht naar haar vorige vriendje, maar die heeft zich bekeerd tot het politiek pacifisme.
