In de jaren 60 ontmoet Jorge, een Cubaanse vluchteling, de stewardess Leslie. De twee vallen voor elkaar. Vier decennia later wordt Chris, een eerstejaars student, verliefd op een klasgenoot, de spirituele Sam. Deze liefde helpt hem het doel in zijn leven te vinden waar hij naar zocht. Voor beide koppels heeft het lot iets onverwachts voor hun in petto. Maar wat hebben de twee verhalen met elkaar te maken?
