Nola, Deb en Nancy zijn beste vriendinnen die een pact sluiten. Ze willen alle drie gewicht verliezen en zullen daarom het advies volgen van krantencolumnist Belinda Apple. Wat Deb en Nancy echter niet weten, is dat Nola de auteur is van de "Apple"-column. Nola tracht dit zo goed mogelijk te verbergen om het vertrouwen van haar vriendinnen niet te verliezen.
