Vissersman Nat Pomeroy woont in een dorpje in Cornwall. Hij heeft een liefdesrelatie met Lanec Florrie, een mooie vrouw afkomstig uit een Franse havenstad. Dan breekt de oorlog uit en alle bewoners moeten nadenken over hun kleine verschillen. De verhouding van Nat en Lanec wordt verstoord door de rivaliteit tussen vissers uit Cornwall en Bretagne.
