In aanloop naar de eerste maanlanding in de zomer van 1969 is een kind gefascineerd door het ruimteleven. Deze woont nabij de NASA-uitvalsbasis, maar verneemt alle nieuws en ontwikkelingen zoals miljoenen anderen via de televisie. Zijn grote droom is zijn gewone leven achter zich te laten en zich voor te bereiden op een ruimtereis naar de maan.
