Dit familiedrama toont de impact die een zwerfhond heeft op het leven van een groep ruige mijnwerkers. Red Dog brengt een gemeenschap samen tijdens een periode wanneer een klein afgelegen stadje uitgroeit tot een grote mijnbouwstad. Red Dog komt voor het eerst in de stad wanneer hij slim genoeg is om mee te liften door de Australische achterlanden. Op zijn beurt wekt Red Dog moed op bij sommige mannen, redt het leven van anderen, en biedt een troostend oor wanneer het het meest nodig is. Hoewel de mijnwerkers hem liefhebben proberen de beheerders van het woonwagenpark waar ze allemaal wonen Red Dog te verjagen. Uiteindelijk zal hij het op moeten nemen tegen zijn aartsvijand, Red Cat.
Nee, helaas is Red Dog nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
