Ten tijde van de revolutie in Nicaragua in het jaar 1984 is een Amerikaanse vrouw op missie. De journaliste ontmoet er een Britse zakenman. Het is het begin van een passionele relatie, maar de twee komen al snel in een web van bedrog en samenzweringen terecht. Samen pogen ze het land te ontvluchten.
