Eind jaren 90. Winona is een wilde jonge vrouw. Haar leven is zich aan het ontrafelen nadat ze de universiteit heeft verlaten en intrekt bij haar ouders. Tevens wordt Winona gediagnosticeerd met een angststoornis, een psychische aandoening die zich kenmerkt door angstaanvallen.
