Een jonge jongen en zijn gezin gaan op de zeiltocht van hun leven totdat er een hevige storm losbarst, waardoor Michael en zijn hond overboord worden geveegd. Nadat ze zich doodsbang hebben aangespoeld op een afgelegen eiland, worstelen ze om te overleven en zich aan te passen aan een alleen leven. Op een dag ontdekt Michael dat hij niet de enige is als hij wordt geconfronteerd met een mysterieuze Japanse man die daar sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog in het geheim heeft gewoond, boos dat Michaël is gearriveerd. Maar terwijl gevaarlijke indringers hun kwetsbare eilandparadijs bedreigen, bundelen Michael en de oude man, Kensuke, hun krachten om hun geheime wereld te redden.
